The third edition of the event postpones the date until March 2022 due to the current delicate situation caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

A difficult decision that responds to the unstable global epidemiological situation that has affected almost all sporting events planned since the beginning of last year 2020.

«We had planned an event with all the required protocols and the necessary adjustments to avoid contagion, but that is not a guarantee at this time», said the president of the Cuban Athletics Federation (FCA) Alberto Juantorena.

«Suspending it and preparing conditions for a successful celebration in 2022 is the best thing», commented the two-time Montreal Olympic Champion 1976, leader of a project involving other glories of Cuban sport and the international tour operator Pineda Sports.

The news announced for this 2021 will be postponed a year, as was the eagerly awaited premiere of the new marathon distance (42 kilometers and 195 meters). We will have to wait until 2022 to enjoy this new distance along with the usual 21K, 10K and Popular races.

Organized for the first time in 2018, the race then brought together half a thousand participants, achieving in its next edition in 2019 to double that figure. With an eminently flat circuit and a pleasant climate, which is around 23-25 degrees at that time of year, the race through the streets of the most famous spa on the island aims to become a must for marathon lovers.

See you in 2022.
