Run in the Paradise
Cubans Olimpic Champions: María Caridad Colón, Javier Sotomayor, Federico Rosa (Athletic Manager), José Luis Aguilera, Juan Pineda (Athletic Manager), Fernando Pineda (CEO), Joel Lamela, Ana Fidelia Quirós, Orlando González (Athletic Federation) y Alberto Juantorena.
The Varadero International Half Marathon, since its beginning in 2018, is committed to elite competition. In the last edition, on March 31, 2019 the Kenyan Timothy Kiplagat Ronoh won the race again, with a new record of 1h 02'51''.
Undoubtedly, this makes it the fastest Half Marathon in the Caribbean.
In 2019, nearly 1,400 runners of 18 different nationalities participated, in both events: Half Marathon and 10 Km. The presence of 7 Cuban Olympic champions, including Ana Fidelia Quirot, who participated in the Half Marathon, motivated all participants. Once both races finished, children and adults of all ages run the Fun Run Race.
On March 29, 2020, the Varadero International Half Marathon will host the "Cuba National Half Marathon Championship" and for the first time the "NACAC Championship" (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association).
In a paradisiacal environment, in the largest Resort on the Island of Cuba, Varadero offers all the possibilities to run on a flat, coastal route with an ideal temperature of about 20 ºC. After the race, as in previous editions, there will be a celebration party with a Cuban orchestra and drinks and food stalls. Runners of different nationalities can enjoy a unique and paradisiacal race.

The start is located at the Meliá Varadero Hotel (Carretera de Las Morlas, Varadero, Cuba) and the finish line at Parque Central (8,000 ticket offices).
The 10 km race runs, in the first kilometers, through the main highway, until entering the town of Varadero, ending in the Parque Central (8,000 ticket offices).
The Half Marathon runs, in the first kilometers by the main highway, enters the town of Varadero and goes to the Hotel Kawama, returning by the main avenue of Varadero, to finish in the Parque Central (8,000 ticket offices).
HALF MARATHON COURSE
- Prizes General Classification 10.000 masculine and feminine: 1º, 2º, 3º trophy.
– Awards General Classification Half Marathon for men and women: 1st, 2nd, 3rd trophy.
- General Veterans Awards in Male and Female Half Marathons: 1st, 2nd, 3rd trophy.
1.- ORGANIZATION
Fernando Pineda Travel Service with the collaboration of the Cuban Athletics Federation, INDER and CUBADEPORTES S.A, organizes the Varadero International Half Marathon and 10 km race.
2.- PARTICIPANTS
All persons who wish to participate, over 18 years old, federated or not, and foreign athletes who comply with the regulations of the Cuban Athletics Federation and IAAF may participate.
3.- COURSE
Circuits of 10,000 meters and 21,097.5 meters homologated by the Cuban Athletics Federation, urban and asphalted in its entirety. The routes will be duly marked by the organization. There will be water refreshment stations approximately in kilometers 5, 10, 15, 17, finish line and final supplies inside the Central Park.
4.- START/FINISH LINE
The Start will take place at 06:30 hours from the Hotel Meliá Varadero. The Finish Line will be located in the Parque Central. The limit time of the Half Marathon test will be at 09:30 (3 hours) and the 10 km at 08:30 (2 hours), this being the official maximum time of each test. To access the starting area, the runners will do so depending on their best time, with plans to establish drawers for the Half Marathon and for the 10,000 m. It must be indicated at the time of formalizing the registration the expected time. The organization may request accreditation of the indicated expected time.
5.- TIMETABLE
The test will be controlled by judges of the Cuban Athletics Federation. The timing will be done by chip system, which will be incorporated in the number. Any runner who participates without the bib will be disqualified, the bib must be visible during the whole trip, as well as one who does not complete the course in its entirety will be disqualified. It is strictly forbidden to participate in the Half Marathon and 10 km without the bib, being removed from the test anyone who does not comply with this rule. The only vehicles authorized to follow the test will be those designated by the Organization and will be duly accredited. It is totally forbidden to follow the runners on a motorcycle or bicycle, being removed by the police to avoid any accident that could cause.

Saturday March 28th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.
7.- CATEGORIES CLASSIFICATION:
• For the 10 km race: - Male general and female general. • For the Half Marathon: - Male and female general. - Veterans (age will be taken into account on the day of the test). - Categories: B: 40-44, C: 45-49, D: 50-54, E: 55-59, F: 60-64, G: 65-70, H: 70-74, I: 75 years or plus. - Regulation athletic wheelchair (M / F). Participants in wheelchairs, Handbike (non-competitive) or any other type of wheelchair (non-competitive) similar, may not exceed at any time the police car that opens the race. In the case of doing so, he will be disqualified.
8.- PRIZES AND TROPHIES:
- Prizes General Classification 10,000 male and female 1st, 2nd, 3rd trophy. - Prizes General Classification Half Marathon for men and women 1st, 2nd, 3rd trophy. - Veterans Qualification Prizes in male and female Half Marathon: trophy to the First Classified of each category.
9.- MEDICAL SERVICES:
The races will have the necessary Medical Services and it will be at the runner disposal during the race. The Organization recommends that all participants submit to a Medical Examination prior to the race, accepting all participants the risk derived from the sporting activity. At the end of the races, participants who need it can make use of a physiotherapy service.
10.- DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITIES
The organization of the event is not responsible for the physical or moral damages that may be suffered by the participants during the course of the event or as a consequence of this and they must sign a document waiving the claim, exempting the organization from any responsibility whatsoever. Any accident, injury that may occur before, during and / or after the trace, waiving a legal action against the organization. Likewise, the Organization reserves the right to make any changes to this regulation if it considers it so, by communicating it on the races webpage and on the information given to the runner.
11.- The not foreseen in this regulation, as well as the possible claims, will be solved by the referee, in accordance with the regulations of the I.A.A.F. and the Cuban Athletics Federation.
12.- All the participants, by the fact of taking part in the events, accept the present regulation. In case of doubt, the criteria of the organization will prevail.
